GOVERNMENT AND PARLIAMENT
Bridget has recently finished a year working as Special Adviser to the Deputy Prime Minister focussing on political liaison for the House of Lords and political and constitutional reform.
Her previous experience has been as a Special Adviser to the Deputy First Minister in Wales, 2002-2003, Deputy Secretary to the Parliamentary Party in the Liberal Democrat Whips Office, and Head of Office to Simon Hughes MP. |
LOCALISMBridget ran the 21st Century Councillor Campaign on behalf of LG Leadership. She was also the Director for the Next Generation programme for Liberal Democrat Councillors 2007-2010. Bridget has been involved in numerous projects and campaigns designed to strengthen and promote Local Government. Bridget was part of the team that brought innovators and thought-leaders in public services and politics together to discuss the Local Society. |
DEMOCRACY: ANCIENT AND MODERNBridget has a degree in Ancient World Studies (Ancient History, Archaeology and Classics) from University College London and a MSc in Public Policy, also from UCL. While there she studied democratic theory, local politics and models of representation.
Since then she has published articles on local and representative democracy (see below, p24 'Why local is better?'), given presentations and lectures to London South Bank University, the British Council in Zimbabwe and numerous local government audiences. |
